The Jailbreak From Self to Sonship

(Intro Video) Most people stuck in “it’s all about me” aren’t defiant about it. They just haven’t been to the Council and haven’t learned to hear for themselves yet — so they look for direction from every source except the one that actually matters: books, blogs, sermons, podcasts, reels. They prophetically resonate with breadcrumbs, analyze them, and try to logically piece their life puzzle together.

Ask most people what Father is actually saying to them today, and what you’ll usually get back is intellectualism — what they think Father is saying, which is often a well-dressed version of what they already wanted justified via what someone else already said (the All-About-Me hamster wheel). Sons are willing to let go of old ways, hear Living Words, and follow the Lamb to a much better place.

Mt 16:24 – If anyone would come after me,
let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
25)   For whoever would save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Jn 12:24 – unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone;
but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
25)   Whoever loves his life loses it,
and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
26)   If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also.
If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

2 Tim 4:3-4 – people will not endure sound teaching but having itching ears
they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

One of the keys to becoming a son who follows the Lamb  is the transition from focusing on my heart to focusing on Father’s heart. When we do take up our cross and let go of all our little idols, it’s amazing to see that Father grants the desires of our heart – because they are His desires too when we get on the same page. Taking up our cross is the shortcut to everything you really wanted in the specifics of your personal Identity, Story, Purpose, Strategy, Tactics, Heritage, Courage, Clarity, and Culture. These all become tangible in business. It’s not just spiritual theory for religious wingnuts!

Exhortation and preaching can be a cover for no actual Council conversations. People are comfortable getting breadcrumbs from an intermediary (prophets and Guru’s) instead of Living Words of their own from Father. It sounds real. It feels good. It’s familiar – what happens in business and church cultures all the time. Its still clouds without rain.

So what actually pulls someone out of the All-About-Me worldview? Not a better argument. An honest look at what Sonship offers that introversion structurally can’t.

 

#1).  I Get to Connect With My True Identity

Self-focus asks you to construct an identity and defend it. Sonship offers something you don’t have to build yourself; how Father actually designed you, discovered rather than invented. That’s the Jesus’ redemption — pulling sons and daughters out of the lens of self and into seeing what’s on Father’s heart instead. Authenticity, in this frame, isn’t “being true to yourself” in the self-help sense. It’s finding out who you actually are, from the only source who actually knows.

 

#2).  I Get to Connect With a Mission Bigger Than Myself

A self-focused life eventually runs out of road — your own goals can only carry so much weight before they feel small even to you. Sonship connects individual purpose to something much bigger: a corporate purpose, a business, Father’s actual Reformation across people, business, cities, and nations. Being part of an Ecclesia — people who share a credible purpose — means you’re part of an exciting mission bigger than you, not a bigger version of your own agenda.

 

#3).  Experience Father Adding & Empowering, Not Just My Effort

Self-effort has a ceiling. Dunamis — Father’s power at work in you — doesn’t. Living Words lead to exploits, and the posture that releases them isn’t striving; it’s asking one question instead of several: is Father saying it, or doing it? Not your survival, your reputation, your fortune, your promotion — just that one question. Faith puts a Living Word to work, calling things that don’t yet exist on earth as though they already do, because they already exist in Heaven (Rom 4:17). That’s not self-effort with better branding. It’s a genuinely different power source.

 

4). Sharing Purpose With People Who See My Heart – Ecclesia

Here’s a strange but reliable pattern: if you can’t respect, esteem, and admire your spouse — see a bright future and frame them in it — you’ll struggle to desire them at all. The same mechanism runs the other direction with Father, and with a team. Intimacy is sharing purpose — seeing hearts and being seen. When individual purpose gets placed inside a larger one, with people who genuinely respect and love you and can see what’s actually in your heart, the result isn’t just teamwork. It’s unity: the team works and the dream works, because Father Himself is present, adding all these things (Mt 6:33).

 

How to Actually Move From Self to Sonship

Sons and Daughters put the Kingdom first, but the tricky part is this question: What does that prioritization look like practically for me? There is no formula, only conversations in the Council can provide answers. When we get out of our heads and into our hearts and the Council, it feels like a jailbreak. Jesus said “follow me” for a reason. Life always takes a conversation with Father, Jesus, and the 7 Spirits. Our course is not all mapped out and not formulaic. Father’s purpose is dynamic and changes in ways we can’t predict. Sonship is an adventure. Servanthood is a disaster.

Attachment – The Sonship Mentoring Sequence in Business

Sonship → Purpose → Innovation → Value → Vocation → Reformation / Fruit

Sonship – is the post-salvation experience of being chosen as a son or daughter specifically invited to the Courts and Council of Heaven via the ascension and access to Father that Jesus redeemed (Jn 1:51). The invitation is to co-labor with what Father is doing (Jn 5:19).

How to: We introduce people to sonship with an experience in the Courts or Council. We look for the earliest opportunity to simply take them first and explain it second. Father communicates choosing in that experience; it’s not our theological/intellectual explanation that makes the difference. Sound doctrine is confirmation; the experience with the Spirit(s) of Truth is convincing. When Father speaks to us we feel chosen.

Purpose – Sons shift from a servant focused on their own dream to a son who puts Father’s Kingdom purpose first. In the course of making that trade, they find the synergism in their own heart. Father wrote shared Kingdom purpose in our hearts in the first place – He’s way ahead of us.

How to: We use a purpose profile graphic to get Father’s purpose in writing and capture where that purpose leads in next steps or goals we call aspirations. I share the graphics on Zoom, and we populate purpose and aspirations as we get clarity from the Lord… eat the chicken and throw out the bones. Innovation – The umbrella of purpose surprisingly gives us more focus for creativity, not less. We even have access to conversations with Wisdom for Strategies and Understanding for Tactics. It’s not all predestined, but we share a role in being creative and innovative like our Father.

How to: The innovative ideas to implement individual goals that flow from the central purpose are part of the aspirations process. We share the file on Zoom and fill it out as we get something prophetically credible.

Value – Father’s purpose is implemented through new, creative ideas. The earmark of the value we create is that it blesses other people; they want to buy it, own it, and share it. It’s an exciting process that blesses us too, but fundamentally it is value or ministry for other people.

How to: The purpose and aspirations are expressed in a business offer integrated with our conviction story that we capture in writing. It’s also expressed as a business plan with cash flow and summarized in a brochure.

Vocation – Making that idea/value available to other people is an entrepreneurial process that happens inside a business and all the processes to manufacture and package it for a consumer. The work to express Father’s purpose feels like Worship (Worship@Work).

How to: Everything we get in terms of sons carrying purpose is naturally expressed in their business and vocation. That becomes inherently obvious in this process as their opportunity to implement what they get, make the mid-course corrections, and celebrate the results. Vocation is where the payoff lands, and it feels practically connected with the desires in my heart and Father’s calling on my life.

Reformation/Fruit – When other people are in possession of the value/product we create, we can see the blessing it imparts. We can also connect the dots to our role in what Father is doing in Nations (Reformation across people, business, Cities, and Nations).

How to: Sonship carries a revelation of Kingdom Culture. We can see and celebrate purpose in other people – it’s no longer just about me, my ministry, or my work. We can experience the dynamic of shared Kingdom purpose in business (Ecclesia@Work). And we are part of Father’s larger strategy for Reformation. We’re part of a much larger team that we hadn’t seen before; Father is calling the Ezekiel 37 army of sons to the fore.

How to Father Your Sons and Daughters

 Sonship is intentional mentoring that needs leadership, especially in a business context; intentional fathering that has these attributes:

Learning to Listen – Spiritual fathers are teaching sons and daughters to hear Living Words from the Council. People learn to hear the voice of God by recognizing what Father is saying to them. In the beginning, you help articulate those living words for them in 1-on-1’s. It’s like riding a bicycle; once you learn how, it’s easy.

People feel chosen by God when they hear what He is saying to them. It feels like love. It’s what builds a Kingdom culture in your business (Ecclesia@Work)

Get it in Writing – Learning to write what you hear is how Living Words are discerned and preserved for action. No one does this initially. We write it down for them in the beginning until they see the benefits of having their purpose on paper. We use specific written graphics and deliverables to get clarity on prophetic purpose and direction.

Put it to Work – Fathering doesn’t stop with the theory and theology for sonship. It’s the execution of that purpose in the context of business into a valuable product or service that makes a difference. The thousands of decisions that go into making the business sustainable are all candidates for conversations in the Council. All the obstacles and accusations are taken to the courts of Heaven and decrees from Father are released to replace them. Work becomes co-laboring with Father, it feels like worship. You can feel His pleasure, His blessing, and His participation in open doors, divine appointments, etc. Kingdom business has a miraculous ingredient that feels like wind in our sails and sales. (Worship@Work).

Intercession – Jesus still lives to make intercession; so do we for our sons. People feel chosen when Father speaks to them. As an earthly father, you are in the council on their behalf, passing on what you get. Intercession (G1793) means to meet and confer (with Father in the Council regarding your sons). Having an earthly father who sees our hearts, has our back, and occasionally reads our mail is greatly encouraging.
