The Mystery Father Is Revealing:
Sonship, Ascension, and Reformation
One story: His life in us, His fellowship with us, His work through us.
(Intro Video) What if the thing you’ve been waiting for, the thing all creation is waiting for, has been hidden since the beginning, and it’s about you? Not just forgiveness, salvation and going to Heaven. Father who wants sons and daughters who talk with Him in heaven and carry His wisdom into your business, your city, your world. That’s the mystery. In the next few minutes, I’ll show you the three movements that tell the whole story.
Hi, I’m John Garfield. I help business leaders and Kingdom entrepreneurs hear Father’s heart and turn prophetic purpose into Business strategy. More on how at the end of the blog. In the next few minutes, I’ll show you the three movements that tell the whole story: Sonship, Ascension and Reformation.
Father had a purpose hidden since the beginning: to bring many sons and daughters into His glory through Jesus (Eph 1:9-10; Heb 2:10). Three movements tell that story. Sonship is the mystery. Ascension is the access. Reformation is the fruit on Earth all creation is waiting to see (Rom 8:19).
#1). Â Sonship: The Mystery Revealed
Paul says a mystery hidden for generations has now been revealed. It is not only that we can be forgiven and go to Heaven. It is that Christ dwells in us and brings us into His life and inheritance.
Col 1:26 – the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations,
but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people.
27)  …which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
We receive the Spirit of adoption, cry “Abba, Father,” and become heirs with Christ (Rom 8:15-17). Sonship is not just a new identity or a future reward. Sons and Daughters are Father’s eternal intention, unveiled. It’s His strategy to converse with us in Heaven and work through us on Earth. Sonship is the feeling of being chosen by your Father to go with Him.
#2). Â Ascension: The Mystery Becomes a Relationship
Jesus told Nathanael he would see heaven open, with messengers ascending and descending on the Son of Man (Jn 1:51). He was echoing Jacob’s ladder (Gen 28:12-17). Jesus is the ladder redeeming our access as sons to Father, restoring Eden’s walks and talks in God’s Council.
From there the invitation grows. Jesus calls us friends and tells us what He hears from the Father (Jn 15:15). We are raised and seated with Him in the heavenly places (Eph 2:6), and invited to approach the throne with confidence (Heb 4:16). John himself heard, “Come up here” (Rev 4:1).
Sonship answers who we are. Ascension answers where we belong, and how we relate to Father.
What Sons Do in the Courts and the Council
Scripture gives us heavenly courtroom and council scenes (Ps 82:1; 1 Kgs 22:19-22; Dan 7:9-10; Rev 4-5). Applying them to believers is a theological step, built on the open heaven and our seat with Christ. In our framework, sons have two functions there.
In the Courts, sons clear what blocks them. They bring accusations, roots of bitterness, and strongholds to the cross, with Father as Judge, Jesus as advocate and the Spirit as witness, and they decree what has been settled in the Courts of Heaven; practical Spiritual Warfare with weapons not of this world.
In the Council, sons see what Father is doing to co-labor with Him. They hear Father’s heart through nine conversations (Identity, Story, Purpose, Strategy, Tactics, Heritage, Courage, Clarity and Culture), receive Living Words, discern, and decree them. Jn 5:19-20 is the pattern: the Son(s) do what He sees Father doing. (More on the Divine Council Worldview)
#3). Â Reformation: Creation Sees the Sons
Creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God (Rom 8:19). Reformation is that revealing in practice: sons bringing Father’s wisdom, justice, creativity, generosity, and purpose into the world around them. Jn 14:12 extends the mission, Eph 2:10 gives the good works prepared beforehand, and Eph 3:20 adds that God does immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. Jesus taught us to pray for it: “on Earth as it is in Heaven” (Mt 6:10).
How the Three Fit Together
Sonship is Father speaking into your identity, Story, and Purpose – Feeling chosen.
Ascension aligns us with Father in the Courts & Council to get Strategy, Tactics, & Heritage.
Reformation is your assignment on Earth, the foundation for your Courage, Clarity, and Culture.
All three from 9 Conversations in the Council. It’s not an option; it’s a lifestyle of daily Living Words. Father includes us in implementing His purpose on Earth and He gives us power over the enemy.
Lu 10:17 –  The seventy-two returned with joy and said,
“Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
18)      He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
19) Â Â Â Â Â I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions
and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
