Vitamin G – Giants Are Bread

Ten saw giants. Two saw bread. Which one will you be?

(Intro Video) Twelve spies looked at the same land. Ten saw giants in the land and grasshoppers in the mirror. Two saw bread. The different spirit in them kept a generation out of their inheritance. Here’s what Caleb knew that the others didn’t. The giants in your life might be the next meal in your wilderness. There is no path to your inheritance that doesn’t go through Spiritual warfare.

The Report That Became a Stronghold

The ten spies’ report began as information and ended as false identity reinforced by a cultural stronghold: “We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes” (Num 13:33). By the next chapter, the whole camp was weeping and grumbling.

Num 14:2-3 – If only we had died in Egypt…
Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword?
Our wives and children will be taken as plunder.

Rom 8:36 – As it is written (Ps 44:22): “For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37)   No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

That is the sheep-to-the-slaughter story, and a root of bitterness at work. It justified itself (“we have a right to be afraid”), predicted its own disaster, and was ready to go back to slavery instead of forward to their inheritance. The giants were real, but the stronghold in hearts was shared unbelief.

Their Protection Is Gone

Joshua and Caleb answered with a different spirit (Num 14:24).

Num 14:9 – do not rebel against the LORD. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them.

“They are bread for us.” What looked like a threat was supply. Their protection was gone, because the shadow of defense over the giants had been removed. In the New Testament, that is Colossians 2:15: Christ “disarmed the powers and authorities… triumphing over them by the cross.” We aren’t asked to defeat an undefeated enemy. We’re invited to enforce a victory.

Bread Is Purpose

Bread in Scripture is more than food. The bread of the Presence sat before God at all times (Ex 25:30) and was eaten by the priests in the holy place (Lev 24:5-9). Jesus said, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work” (Jn 4:34). I read that as a picture: for sons, purpose is the bread, and the giants are part of the meal.

Rom 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
(Your Bread)

All things means all things, including the giants. When sons are called according to His purpose, what was meant to consume them becomes what feeds the work. Purpose in this verse is Prothesis and refers to the showbread. Sons bring Reformation to earth and overcome evil, with Father using even the opposition for good.

It Runs Through the Whole Bible

The purpose to overcome isn’t one verse – It’s God’s strategy for His Sons and Daughters. It is the thread of Scripture. The offspring of the woman will crush the serpent (Gen 3:15). The Son of God appeared to destroy the devil’s work (1 Jn 3:8). The God of peace will crush Satan under our feet (Rom 16:20). God’s manifold wisdom is made known to rulers and authorities in the heavenly places (Eph 3:10). And the one who overcomes will sit with Christ on His throne (Rev 3:21). Sons aren’t spectators, they are warriors.

How Sons Overcome

Revelation 12:11 names the two weapons.

Rev 12:11 – They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
(in Courts of Heaven defeating strongholds)
                            and by the word of their testimony;
(Living Words we get in the Council)
they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
(Sons follow the Lamb)

First, the blood of the Lamb. In the Courts of Heaven, this is the weapon not of this world: the accusation is answered at the cross, so the enemy loses his legal ground. Second, the word of their testimony, Living Words from Father, Jesus and the 7 Spirits reveal our purpose and our works co-laboring with Father. A testimony of the works Father and sons accomplished together, and the enemy has no answer for it.

The Cup and the Bread

The cup is His blood, a participation in what Jesus accomplished (1 Cor 10:16) that we implement in the courts of Heaven. The bread is His purpose, the work Father gives, meat that nourishes our hearts (Jn 4:34). Sons drink the cup that settles warfare in the Courts and eat the bread of doing what Father is doing that we see in the Council. That is communion; see Communion – Shared Purpose.

But Not Without the Father

Numbers 14 has a second lesson. After the people heard the verdict, they changed their minds and attacked anyway. Moses warned them: “Do not go up, because the Lord is not with you” (Num 14:42). They were routed. Sons overcome by hearing what Father is doing and then doing it (Jn 5:19-20), not by running at giants in their own strength. Living Words come first, and warfare follows. Power without Father’s prophetic purpose (Living Words) is just another form of self-sufficiency. It’s His power and purpose that is at work with us (Eph 3:20).

What to Do With Your Giants

Take the grasshopper story to the Courts. Name the accusation (“I’m too small”), the root (what wounded you and what you vowed), and the justification (“I have a right to be afraid”). Bring them to the cross, repent of the agreement, and then go to the Council and ask what Father says about the land ahead.

Then look again. Giants are bread, but only for those with a different spirit. Have the Council conversation about which one to eat first. In our own human wisdom we don’t know what to do or when to do it.

Bonus – How Jesus Survived the Demonic Deep State

Jn 11:47 – Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin.
“What are we accomplishing?” they asked. “Here is this man performing many signs.

48) If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.”

49) Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, “You know nothing at all!

50) You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.”

51) He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation,

52) and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one.

53) So from that day on they plotted to take his life.

54) Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the people of Judea. Instead he withdrew to a region near the wilderness, to a village called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples.

Lu 10:17 – The seventy-two returned with joy and said,
18)    He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
19)    I have given you authority
#1)  to trample on snakes and scorpions and
#2)  to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
