It’s bad – the news media and the prophetic camp are having a feeding frenzy on the dire US and world economy. In the US, we tax 2.2T and borrow money so that we can spend 3.5T. That’s bad enough, but every year we spend more. Other nations have similar issues, so it’s easy to make a case for catastrophe. Credible people are recommending storing a year’s supply of food and buying a gun… as they have done several times in the past. Others are recommending strategies to avoid a failing dollar, which is losing value against other currencies. The church isn’t necessarily a sanctuary in all of this, because many embrace an expectation for the devil to win and the saints to be raptured out of war, earthquake, famine, pestilence, persecution, and collapse. Not a particularly rosy future!
The Kingly outlook – As I take my daily dose of pessimism and economic realism, I’m trying to listen to the Lord and hear what He has to say. Although the enemy would like to steal your inheritance, kill the economy, and destroy your future, the Holy Spirit is saying something else.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 NIV
“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. 3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities. 4 “Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. Isa 54:2-4 NIV
When the lemming herd sees the sky falling, Kings see opportunity. More millionaires were created in the great depression that in any other period in history. No matter how bad it gets, we worship a God who is continually showing Joseph’s ways to overcome problems and bless nations. It’s a matter of outlook. Shall we focus on the problem or focus on the solution? Listen to the end of Isaiah 54.
…no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. Isa 54:17
Right now – Politicians and economists tend to project the current course into the future… we’re growing at under 2% a year (GDP) and we’re spending 60% more than we make. If that was my personal finances, I’d have a little trouble sleeping, too! Not factored in, are the role of Kings and the intervention of God. The political, economic, technology, and personal solutions are waiting to be found; we just have to hear them and implement them. Here’s the secret: the economy can grow at a rate that will make spending and debt seem small. The simple solution is to live within our means and grow the economy, both nationally and individually.
Good reports – In spite of all the bad news, I’m hearing some really good news just within the last month. It feels like the Lord is showing some first fruits for Kings. Business ventures that have languished for years are showing signs of huge potential. Just when the forecasts are the worst, breakthroughs are showing themselves on many fronts for friends/Kings whom I know in business and for me personally. I’ve had to change my outlook to agree with God, and I’m sowing into a coming harvest! It’s very exciting.
Sowing for a harvest – Breakthroughs can happen for you, too! It depends on how you think and what you do. If we want a harvest, we have to expect that it’s possible in our hearts and sow into the soil of those expectations with our actions (faith and work). No matter how bleak the outlook, faith and hope are watching for opportunities and making sure we have sown seeds that can grow into a great harvest… spiritually and financially. I’m hearing “don’t hold back” from Isaiah 54 and “don’t give up” from Galatians 6. This is exactly the season to sow or invest in your future.
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows… Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Gal 6:7-9 NIV
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 2 Cor 9:6-7 NIV
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Cor 9:10-11 NIV
Where we’re headed – Although we may collapse an occasional economy on the way, the Kingdom of God is growing every day. I want to suggest that it’s not just in souls saved or churches planted. The Kingdom is growing through Kings in all seven mountains in a way that will bless the nations… economically, politically, morally, and in technology. Here are a few examples:
Oil shortages will bow to new means of production and alternative technologies that are yet to be tried. Wind and solar are a cruel hoax so far, but the real solution will show itself. Many other technologies will change the economic landscape in ways we cannot predict, at an ever faster pace. They all represent investment opportunities.
Political ideology will gravitate toward free enterprise, free markets, and free societies because they work. China is a current example of movement in that direction and resulting prosperity. Nations will indeed be blessed through the political leadership of Kings.
Innovations in health care, preventive medicine and the administration of health care will continue to increase the quality and length of life. Expect breakthroughs in this area, as well.
The internet will continue to revolutionize communication, trade and prosperity around the world. Wealth will be created in astounding ways that will lift entire nations out of poverty.
We could cite many other examples, but the real point is that you can be part of this resurrection if you can see it and sow into it. We all have an invitation into the Kingdom to play a role and inherit our land. We have to believe that it exists and “ask” for the creativity and “ask” to see the opportunities. The scales come off with amazing ease and a door to a whole new world opens wide. The Holy Spirit is inviting us to ask… for big things, big dreams.
You do not have because you do not ask. James 4:2-3 NASU
Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession. Ps 2:8 NASU
It’s Easter and God gave us all a little gift of a song by Carrie Underwood. He is great!
