One of the most frequent questions I hear from believers is, “How do I know if I’m really hearing from God?” It’s a question that reflects both hunger and hesitation, the desire to hear Father’s voice coupled with uncertainty about discerning it clearly. The good news is that clarity about what Father is saying comes through a practical discernment process that transforms how we hear and how we walk out Kingdom purpose on earth.
Our intellectual minds are a cesspool—a mix of what Father is saying, what we are saying (our opinions and desires), and what the devil is saying (temptations, confusion, fear). Jeremiah 17:9 reminds us that the heart is deceitful above all things, and Psalm 5:9 warns us that hearts can be filled with Malice. This isn’t meant to discourage us but to wake us up to the reality that not everything we “hear” comes from God. We need a process to separate the wheat from the chaff, the truth from the noise.
The beautiful reality is that Jesus has overcome the world, and as sons and daughters, we have access to Father’s Council where Living Words flow from Heaven to Earth. But accessing those words requires more than passive listening, it requires active discernment. Here’s the five-step process that brings clarity to what Father is saying to you:

#1). Â I Wrote What I Heard (Didn’t Lose It)
The first step in discernment is simple but crucial: write it down. If it’s not in writing, it will fly away. Our minds are too cluttered, too busy, too bombarded with thoughts to hold onto the voice of the Spirit without being intentional and strategic. When you hear Father speaking in a Council session, capture it on paper immediately. Always take notes during your Council session. It honors Father.
This isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about not losing it. 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 instructs us: “Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophesying. Prove all things, hold fast to the good.” Writing what you hear is the first act of proving all things. You’re creating a record that you can test, refine, and discern.
Sons are never content with breadcrumbs, not after they’ve experienced the banquet: The Wedding Supper of the Lamb is happening for Sons and Daughters right now. Writing what you hear is how you begin to feast on solid food rather than settling for scraps.

#2). Â I Discerned What I Wrote (Fixed It)
Now comes the refining work. Edit what is written. Fix it. Align it with Father’s heart. Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, in order to prove by you what is that good and pleasing and perfect will of God. Â This proving happens when we test what we’ve written against Scripture, against the character of God, and against the witness of the Spirit.
Jesus is redeeming and cleansing hearts and minds, sweeping your house of evil spirits and evil thoughts. Hebrews 5:14 says that “solid food belongs to those who are of full age, even those who because of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Discernment is a muscle that gets stronger with use. When you use discernment to clean your house and fill it with righteousness (getting on the same page with Father), evil spirits and thoughts have no place to return. You gain stability, clarity, and peace.
This step requires humility and agility. It’s not about your prowess or genius; it’s about being transparent before God, willing to adjust what you heard to what He’s actually saying.

#3). Â I Got the Conversation to Go With It; Complete It
This is where the Council comes alive. Don’t settle for hearing just one facet of Father’s heart. Make room for Jesus and the Seven Spirits to speak into what you’ve heard. The whole counsel of God comes from the whole Council.
John 16:13-15 promises that “when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth… the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” Each member of the Council adds dimension, depth, and completion to what Father is saying. Wisdom brings strategy. Understanding brings tactics. Counsel brings heritage perspective. Might brings courage. Knowledge brings clarity. Fear of the Lord brings culture.
Father’s Council topics revolve around your purpose; how your identity, story, and purpose manifest in strategy, tactics, and heritage. Don’t chase every rabbit or stray thought in your mind. Focus your heart on what Father is saying about your purpose and the next step on earth.

#4). Â I Released It on Earth
(Put It to Work, Implemented, Got Confirmation, Saw the Fruit)
Living Words from Heaven turn into Living Works on Earth. This is where solid food manifests—not just in hearing but in doing. Father’s strategy is hearing Living Words in Heaven’s Council and then having sons bring them to earth as greater works.
Isaiah 55:11 declares, “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” The final step of discernment is fruit. Did the works you received bear any fruit? Implementation is where faith becomes sight, where the invisible becomes visible.
John 15:5-7 lays out the formula: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” This is the DFY (Done For You) principle that Jesus promises. It starts in the Council when Living Words get written down.
Courage comes from being faithful to consistently implement Living Words on earth. Confidence and courage build as they are exercised, as you become mighty men and women, valiant ones. It’s a new mindset, a renewed mind.

#5). Â I Can Hear Father Saying “Well Done”
This is the goal, the joy, the heritage of co-laboring with Father, seeing great victories, greater works, and much fruit. Jesus invites us into this reality: “Well done, enter into the joy of the Lord.”
When you’ve walked through the discernment process, writing what you heard, discerning what you wrote, getting the conversation to complete it, and releasing it on earth; you position yourself to hear the words every son longs to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Nothing blesses Father’s heart more than sons bringing His purpose from Heaven to Earth. It’s a strategic part of Reformation. Servants ask God to bless them out of their focus on themselves. Sons align with Father to bless Him out of love and inheritance. Whose purpose do you serve? What Father do you serve?
The beauty of this process is that it’s repeatable, sustainable, and transformative. As you exercise these steps consistently, your ability to hear Father’s voice sharpens. You become accusation-free and faith-full. You learn to keep your house clean and fill it with Father’s purpose and Living Words. You capture what is said by all seven Spirits and carry the whole counsel to earth.
This is how clarity comes. This is how sons hear from Father God.
