The age of Kingdom has an exciting impact on the business mountain and leadership styles. CEOs are in the crucible of this change, but it can be an adventure instead of a firestorm when we learn to flow with what Father is doing. Fundamentally, it’s getting out of our heads and giving Father a seat in the boardroom. Typically leaders and CEOs are self-sufficient, self-controlled, self-disciplined, self-assured, and self-starting. The leadership dynamic of a Kingdom CEO is co-laboring: CEOs are moving from their self-whatevers to release what Father can do and do it with Him. Here are six distinctives of new CEOs!

Motivations – Doing what Father is doing suddenly seems a priority over making money and maximizing me, my visibility, and my ministry. The impact of Reformation on people, businesses, cities, and nations dwarfs every other incentive, personal and corporate!

My Identity – I’m seeing myself as a son who has been chosen to play a role. I’m not longer just serving my own dream. I’m not even a steward of Father’s dream. Obedience doesn’t describe the relationship. Father has written purpose in my heart that we share, It’s in His heart too! I own the assignment He’s given me, and all my engagement is voluntary. I’m part of His family.

Identity of Others – The thrill of feeling chosen by God to play a specific role was a wake-up call. Now, I’m seeing my leadership team and staff have the same unique invitation from Father. They are chosen as well. Pulling them into their unique assignment is fun, and it’s good for business. Their engagement and creativity are ignited when they see how their Kingdom purpose syncs with the calling on the business. Wow, God has gone before us!

Leadership Style – My leadership leverage goes far beyond accountability. Now, my style has an inspirational ingredient: I’m pulling other people into doing what Father is doing with me. Getting clarity on that prophetic purpose is now my top priority. Our business has all the ingredients of an ecclesia because we share Kingdom purpose, pull in the same direction, and have fun doing it.

Definition of Success – Our, and Father’s, biggest objective is Reformation. It ripples through our staff, products, cashflow, and community. We keep an eye on the biggest prize we can get Father to share. He’s doing some pretty big things, and we share some big aspirations and we are excited about it!

Succession Plan – It’s not about me. Father’s purpose, His people, and even my company will go to even greater heights after I’m gone. That reality makes room to develop the next generation and prepare their hearts to have even bigger dreams and greater impact.
