It is in all our hearts to be part of what God is doing and contribute and be part of the action. When we thought there was only one mountain, it led to a form of pulpit idolatry where everyone wanted a microphone ministry. Now that we understand 7 mountains, we celebrate creativity in every area and see the ministry value. Creating value in business that blesses people is a ministry.

I’m in Business – Regardless of our mountain, calling, or ambition, we all pay the bills. Our lives can be thought of as a business; we’re all in the business of creating value!

The concept of being a business, instead of just starting one, helps. The idea of a business that “ministers” by creating value for others helps even more. Business cancer is starting a business to make money so you can do something else. In a Kingdom business, we’re having fun, making money, and loving people. Business is not an escape or a prison; it’s an expression of who we are in the Kingdom and how we bless people and nations!

Value is the Key – About 80% of business starts fail in the first two years. It’s because we usually focus on how much money we can make instead of how much value we create. Get that backward, and it’s a guaranteed failure. Get it right and people we beat a path to your door to “buy” what you create!

Deut. 8:18 – But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today. NIV

The natural sense of this translation is that God gives us wealth to confirm his covenant to bless His people. In other words, He owes it to us according to His covenant, and we exercise the faith to receive it! The problem with this view is that wealth Cayhil (H2428) means the ability to produce something (as in creating something of value via “work,” rather than receiving money through miracles). Cayhil is used 243 times and most often translated as:

• Valor – mighty men of valor in Ju. 6:2, 8:3
• Able men 18:25 (also army or host)
• Do valiantly Num. 24:18
• Strength 84:7 They go from strength to strength, Every one of them appears before God in Zion. NASU

Psalm 84:7 is my favorite because it gives the sense of appearing in the courts and council to get this ability to produce something on earth. There is a supernatural ingredient! The something we produce is His Kingdom on earth – the value we bring to our mountain. His covenant promise is to build that Kingdom through sons. Now read the Douay-Rheims translation

Deut. 8:18 – But remember the Lord thy God, that he hath given thee strength, that he might fulfill his covenant, concerning which he swore to thy fathers, as this present day sheweth. Douay-Rheims

Can you see it? God gives us an anointing or power to be valiant so we can co-labor with Him to fulfill his covenant; bring His Kingdom to earth by the value we create. Believers aren’t passively standing in line for a wealth transfer or expecting “something for nothing.” We are looking for ways to create value for others in a business or a 7-mountain context. We’re not here to receive. We’re here to create, produce, and bless nations. When we seek the Kingdom first and “give value” to others out of a valiant (read entrepreneurial or bold) spirit, we create wealth as a by-product. We’re not trying to make money or create wealth “first.” We are creating value that other people want, and money is created “second.”

No Shortcuts – Can you see why a motive or opportunity to get-rich-quick doesn’t work? It tries to skip the “value creation” step that goes first. As a result, money flies away from such people and opportunities. If you have a business or want to start one, think carefully about the value you create, who it’s for, what it does for them, and why they would love to “buy” it. (see graphic).

Prov. 23:4-5 – Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle. NIV

I don’t want something-for-nothing – Why not? I know it doesn’t work. Instead, I want to set my heart on being valiantly creative and productive and providing others with something they value – enough to buy.

2 Sam. 24:24 – I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing. NIV

Give people the ability to valiantly produce from the script God wrote in their heart’s desires (the way God does according to His covenant). They will love you for it. You are the hero in this Kingdom story. God has made room for you to do exploits that make a difference. He’s already written the script for your Kingdom contribution in the desires of your heart. People buy your why – People don’t want to know what you do or how you do it. They want to know why you do it? Their heart is asking, “Can you help me answer my why? Attain my aspiration? Help me make my dream come true?” The charisma of selling starts when others know your why; your Kingdom purpose and the Kingdom purpose of your business. Marketing your value starts when the prophetic purpose of your business is evident. At a heart level, people will buy the Kingdom why in you and in your product. Do you know what that is?
