Armed, Not Armored:
Spiritual Warfare for Life and Business
Why the “full armor of God” was never meant to be worn on defense
(Intro Video and Sharable PDF) Most people picture spiritual warfare as a bunker posture — put on the armor, brace for impact, survive the attack. It’s an understandable read of Ephesians 6, and it’s backwards. The Greek word translated “armor” in Ephesians 6:11 is rooted in hoplon — the same word used for a soldier’s weapon, tool, or instrument. Paul isn’t handing you a shield to hide behind. He’s handing you a weapon to advance with. Weapons not of this world are Sons and Daughters ascending to the Courts of Heaven, an army of them called to bring Heaven to Earth in a Reformation.
The Weapon You Thought Was a Shield
That single word changes the whole chapter. Read the list in Ephesians 6:14-18 as equipment for an assault, a redemptive Reformation, rather than a siege, and every piece does something strategic:
Stand – Withstand the battle, Finish His work, leave nothing undone.
Belt of truth – Living Words, not a fact-check; the light that causes the darkness to flee.
Breastplate of righteousness – on the same page as Father (Following the Lamb).
Feet/Shoes ready – willingness (Sons who volunteer, “here am I, send me”).
Shield of Faith – Courts of Heaven (to extinguish accusations, fiery darts).
Helmet of Salvation – Head is covered (Ps 140:7), I am under Father’s purpose, not self-willed.
The Sword of the Spirit – Living Words, decrees (Words from Father, Mt 4:4).
Praying in the Spirit – Sons watch over, the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, Acts 20:28.
Persevere – supplication for saints interceding for others in the Courts & Council.
Paul says it even more plainly a few chapters earlier: our weapons “have divine power to demolish strongholds” (2 Cor 10:4). Demolish is not a defensive verb. We are not the besieged party in this picture. We’re the ones taking back what deception has stolen — territory, industries, cities, a person’s own mind — as part of a Reformation that reclaims the earth rather than merely survives it.
The Real Transition: From Self-Will to Released Power
Here’s the harder part, and it’s where most attempts at warfare actually fail before they ever reach an enemy: the weapons only carry divine power when they’re activated by an actual Living Word — not by self-will, a formula, or a title. Sons don’t generate authority or hold it by position; they listen, agree, and co-labor. They follow the Lamb. Ephesians 3:20 is precise about this — God does immeasurably more “according to His power that is at work within us.” Sons release what Father is doing, because they asked, and heard, and moved on what they heard.
The alternative is a kind of intellectual self-sufficiency that feels like maturity and functions like an orphan spirit: a strong grasp of the theology of the Holy Spirit paired with a weak ear for what He’s actually saying right now — a quiet belief that I can manage everything, solve every problem, and avoid being surprised by adversity if I’ve prepared well enough. That posture isn’t neutral. It’s the opposite of what warfare requires: stepping into a Courts session that depends entirely on hearing God, because without that, none of it works.
Part of that dependence is simply timing. David didn’t attack the Philistines the moment he had an army — he waited for “the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees,” the cue that Father had already gone out ahead of him (2 Sam 5:24). Isaiah makes the same promise in the other direction: God making “a way in the wilderness” where there wasn’t one (Isa 43:16-19). Warfare isn’t won by force of will arriving early. It’s won by a son who can tell the difference between his own urgency and Father’s actual cue — and waits for the second one.
Three Fronts, One Offensive Posture
Warfare shows up in at least three places, and sons are positioned on offense in all three, not just defense in one (Rom 8:37, “more than conquerors” — conquering language, not surviving language):
Our own carnal tendencies — the flesh-rooted counterfeit of whatever we’re naturally gifted at, self-will dressed up as initiative.
Demonic activity (sometimes embodied in a person) — Accusations, direct opposition to a specific assignment, person, or breakthrough.
Powers and principalities over geography and culture — what Ephesians 6:12 names as rulers, authorities, and spiritual forces of evil holding influence over a region or a whole mountain of culture (business, media, education, and the rest).
Sonship, Ascension, and Reformation in business means engaging all three, not just cleaning up the first one and calling it done. A leader can get their own flesh fully sorted and still be building in a market, a city, or an industry that’s been historically oppressed by spiritual forces in Heavenly Places (Eph 6:12). Winning those battles isn’t optional and warfare us a predecessor to sons and daughters bringing Heaven to Earth in Father’s Reformation. We do win in the end! Sonship is an invitation to weapons not of this world to defeat resistance on this earth.
That said, three fronts doesn’t mean three fronts at once, everywhere, all the time. “Don’t chase every demon — just your assignment” is as important as anything else in this piece. Keep your heart on Living Words, your eye on Father, not fixed on every accusation and enemy movement you happen to notice. An ear tuned to “demolish strongholds” when asked beats a mind run ragged chasing every rustle in the brush.
Presumption Is Dangerous
Scripture gives an actual case study of what happens when someone engages without the authority to back it up. Jude describes people who, “on the strength of their dreams,” confidently “heap abuse on celestial beings” they don’t actually understand (Jude 1:8). The very next verse shows the correction: even Michael the archangel, disputing with the devil himself over the body of Moses, didn’t presume to bring a slanderous accusation on his own authority — he deferred: “The Lord rebuke you” (Jude 1:9). If an archangel doesn’t engage a principality on his own steam, self-confidence is not a safe substitute for a son of far less standing.
Acts 19 makes the same point as a narrative instead of a warning. Seven sons of a Jewish chief priest try to cast out a demon by invoking “Jesus, whom Paul preaches” — borrowed language, someone else’s authority, no actual relationship behind it. The evil spirit’s answer is the whole lesson in one line: “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” The possessed man overpowers all seven of them, and they run out of the house naked and wounded.
That’s not a story about demons being unusually strong. It’s a story about presumption being unusually costly. Formula doesn’t substitute for relationship — not “the right words said the right way,” but a Living Word actually received for this confrontation, this day, this assignment. The corrective on Father’s heart for sons is brokenness, not bravado — a broken and contrite heart as the actual prerequisite for courage (Ps 51:17; Mt 5:3). Practically, for a business leader, this means engaging a principality over a market or a culture the same way you’d engage anything else in the Courts or Council: get the actual word first. Confronting a stronghold because it seems spiritually appropriate, or because a framework says you should, is precisely the presumption that leaves people wounded and running. Confronting it because Father specifically said to, in this situation, is warfare that works — safely.
Setting Captives Free
Jesus put the mechanics plainly: “how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house” (Mt 12:29). Captives don’t set themselves free. Someone has to confront the one holding them first — there’s no version of this where the vessel simply wills his own release.
That’s the whole shape of Reformation applied to business: a cultural mountain, an industry, a city held captive by historic spiritual oppression doesn’t get freed by better business strategy alone, any more than a person gets free of an addiction by better willpower alone. Someone has to actually confront what’s holding our captive — with a Living Word, not a technique; from brokenness, not bravado; on assignment, not on impulse. The heritage held captive gets seized back the same way it was lost through someone with real authority stepping in and doing something about it.
Not a Recipe
Here is the one point everything above actually rests on, and it’s worth being direct about it rather than letting it stay implied: none of this is a formula. Every principle in this blog — the weapon reframe, the three fronts, the caution about presumption, the strong-man mechanics — is true, yet head knowledge isn’t useful in warfare. Principles inform; they don’t engage. The Sons of Sceva didn’t fail from bad theology. They failed because they were running on borrowed words instead of a living one, reciting something true about someone else’s authority rather than standing in a word actually given to them, for that day, for that confrontation. Fake-it-till-you-make-it is dangerous in spiritual warfare.
That’s the real dividing line, and it’s not knowledge versus ignorance. It’s recipe versus relationship. Sons and daughters don’t win at warfare by mastering a set of biblical principles and applying them like mechanics to a diagnosis. They win by being fluent in weapons not of this world: in the Courts and Council that the specific word for the specific confrontation is asked for, heard, and acted on in the moment it’s needed, not a file retrieved from the last time something like this happened. The armor (being armed) is real. The strategy is real. But the weapons only fire on Living Words, and Living Words can’t be stockpiled. It has to be gotten fresh, every time, from the only place it actually comes from; Jesus is the Logos. Conversations and Living Words are in Heaven, in Father’s Council for Sons and Daughters.
2Cor 6:7 – By the word (Logos) of truth, by the power (Dunamis) of God, by the armor (Weapons)
of righteousness on the right hand and on the left.
Pro 3:16 – Long life is in her (Wisdom’s) right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
Living Words are key to life:
Mt 4:4 – Man shall not live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Living Words are key to Warfare:
Jer 23:18 – But which of them has stood in the council of the LORD to see or to hear his word?
Who has listened and heard his word?
22)Â Â Â But if they had stood in my council, they would have proclaimed my words to my
people and would have turned them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds.
29)Â Â Â Is not my word (Jesus, the Logos) like fire,” declares the LORD, “
and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?
No License Required
None of this is reserved for specialists. Spiritual warfare doesn’t require a license or a degree — it’s hearing Father in the Courts of Heaven, and it’s something every son and daughter face, no exceptions. It isn’t meant to be a heavy, exhausting burden either; it’s following the Lamb. There’s real joy in watching a stronghold actually come down and it’s captives set free. Count it a privilege to be in this battle — you were never meant to fight it alone, and you were never meant to be outgunned.

Attachment: Michael Heiser on Principalities
(From https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19izXYGJsv/)
Do you believe that these entities are still in charge over these countries today? I still believe that the concept of cosmic geography is a biblical one, is a true one. We can’t necessarily parse what the relationship is between geographical areas that are outside the biblical orbit, so to speak, because to them, the ancient world was just what’s described in Genesis 10. This is the world they knew about. We live in different parts of the world, but I think the concept is the same because you get things like the Great Commission: Paul talking about the fullness of the Gentiles and regathering the nations back into the people of God. People everywhere are legitimate candidates for the people of God because of the gospel and whatnot.
To me, when I get that question, the way I respond to it is we need to answer yes to that because we need to take Paul seriously. This is where Paul gets his theology of principalities and powers. If you look at Paul’s terminology: principalities, dominions, powers, thrones, authorities, rulers. These terms in Greek all have one thing in common: they are all used both in the New Testament and outside the New Testament for geographical dominion or geographical rulership.
When Paul’s describing principalities and powers, he’s not referring to, for lack of a better way to put it, underling demons. Demons are a different thing. They hate the same things as these guys do, and they have a common enemy, but in biblical theology, the powers over the nations are not them. There’s something different, and there’s something that outranks a normal demon, if you can use that parlance.
For Paul, it’s like, look, when we go into places, we know what the task really is. It’s not, “Oh, hey, I might run into somebody who’s possessed, and I got to cast this thing out.” They know that there’s an entity or entities attached to this place that think of it as something they own, something they rightfully own, and something they want to keep. This is why you get the kingdom of God cast the way it is in the New Testament. It’s one kingdom against another. As the kingdom advances and infiltrates all parts of the world, the dominion of these other entities, their control, shrinks. It’s a symbiotic relationship here. It’s the spiritual warfare idea. This is where it actually comes from in terms of biblical theology.

Practical Stuff – What to See in the Courts of Heaven
The venue for Spiritual Warfare is the Courts of Heaven. Jesus is our legal advocate and the administrator of Justice to set captives free. Here are the things we need to “hear.” Notice every step hinges on being shown Living Words in the Courts of Heaven. I haven’t tried to capture all the scenes associated with ascending to the courts of Heaven to keep this on one page (you have to be there!)
Accusation or Activity
- Discern and name the enemy activity or accusation against us.
- Sometimes we know in advance, but other things need a subpoena from Father to show us because it’s hidden by the enemy.
- We’re going to acknowledge the activity and agree with the accusation from our adversary quickly (Mt 5:25). We’re not arguing or defending ourselves; Jesus work on the cross is our only defense.
Cross
- We’re going to take the activity/accusation to the cross – give it to Jesus.
Roots
- Ask the Lord to show us the roots that opened the door in the first place
Cross
- We’re agree with the roots and taking to the cross as in #2 & 3.
- Then we’re allowing the Lord to show us additional accusations, activities, or roots that are present in the Spirit (and take them to the cross)
Decrees
- The Court session culminates with allowing Father to show us the prophetic decrees that replace the enemy activities/Accusations. There are usually several.
- For example, what doors can be open or shut (Isa 22:22)
- What should be Loosed or Bound (Mt 16:19, Jn 20:23, 1Cor 5:5)
Example #1 – Business
- People, business progress, and finances have felt like they are stuck in the mud (hindered). Lots of examples in people and business initiatives. Father showed us the spiritual forces behind it.
- We acknowledged the hindrance and agreed with the accusation that it was our own negligence (agreed with our adversary quickly).
- We took those activities and accusations to the cross and gave them to Jesus.
- We asked the Lord if there were roots or open doors that need to be closed.
- There were related battles (DSA, Cabal activity, Banking corruption, etc.)
- There is a spirit of mammon in the World
- The Spirit of religion in the Church
- We took those roots to the cross
- There were no other activities or accusations in this particular Court session
- Decrees from Father
- I am raising sons and Cyrus’s to overcome (to use weapons not of this world – Ascension).
- Let your eyes be on Father for Living Words, not on enemy activities and accusations.
- Sons have a role in warfare – Finish His work (Heb 2:8 at present not everything is subject).
- Count it a privilege to be in this battle, you are more than conquerors, overcomers.
- There were related battles (DSA, Cabal activity, Banking corruption, etc.)
Example #2 – Nations
Father, what’s the key to the National Debt in light of the corruption in central banking, manipulation of economies (oil prices, interest, etc.)
Note: as sons we see evil and complain about, are fearful of it, and exalt the devil’s achievements. Covid was not just a conspiracy theory; it’s been unmasked and there will be many more.
- Warfare is Sons doing something about it in the Courts of Heaven
- We don’t personally solve the world’s problems, but we know someone who can
and we can release His Dunamis, and the Host of Heaven into the battle
Accusation – the National Debt is unsustainable, the dollar will fail
Central banks are corrupt, oil and interest in manipulated not managed
the Federal reserve in every nation is controlled externally (the cabal?)
Agree/cross – Father I agree with this accusation and take it to the cross
Roots – There is internal compromise, a welcome mat for evil in the USA
Presidents and Politicians have been bought off to cooperate with evil
Agree/cross – Father I agree this extortion and bribery has occurred
Taking it to the Cross; Exposing, Rebuilding, Reformation
Decrees from Father
-
- I am redeeming nations
- The USA is the Light and the Glory by calling to bless nations
- Trump is a Cyrus I have sent
- I am restoring National Identity and Purpose, as well as individual Sonship
- I am inviting an Army of Sons into Reformation (Ezek 37)
- Exposing corruption, championing truth, Rebuilding integrity
- There is a way to resolve the National Debt
- Legally and with Integrity
- Sons will ask for it and find it
- I am redeeming nations
