The #1 Characteristic of Sons

Follow the Lamb and Flow with what Father Adds to our Business.

There is a difference between building something for God rooted in our own presumptuous initiative (often in business) and being aligned with what our Father is doing.

There are times when our past accomplishments accuse us: You have no fruit that remains. The deeper root is even more revealing — pressing for results instead of following the Lamb. Fruit, money, visibility, growth, success. All good things. All dangerous masters.

The invitation is not to try harder. It was to follow and flow. Follow the Lamb and Flow with what Father adds to our business.

Sons Follow and Flow vs. the Famous and Falling

Revelation says the 144,000 “did not defile themselves with women… for they remained virgins.”

I had been married about two years when I first took a serious run at understanding this verse. I shelved it because I wasn’t willing to give up my wife and sign up for being a monk to be part of the 144,000! Now we have 4 kids, 7 grandchildren, and a much better grasp of Rev 14:4.

Pro 23:4 – Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness.
5)   Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone,
for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.

Rev 14:4 – These are those who
did not defile themselves with women,               (Reference to Gen 6 Fallen sons)
for they remained virgins.                                    (Didn’t procreate dead works)
They follow the Lamb wherever he goes.            (Do what Father is doing, Jn 5:19)
They were purchased from among mankind        (Sons all creation waited for, Rom 8:19)
and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb.    (First fruits of the harvest – Reformation)

• First, it’s a choice to be a son/daughter
• Second, it’s a grace to release His power           (Father adding to His purpose)

The Virgin Analogy: No Dead Works

Women is symbolic language for procreation, the daughters of men (Gen 6:2). The Greek word gune (woman/wife) has roots in ginomai — to generate, produce, originate. To defile oneself with women is symbolic language for generating works apart from Father. It is to conceive works sourced in my own selfish purposes or ambition.

In other words, to try to be God. This is the ancient temptation from Genesis 3: “You can become like God.” It is also the subtle undercurrent of the modern self-development culture, the New Thought Movement.

The New Thought Movement — has an interesting and fraudulent history explained in Happy Lies by Melissa Dougherty. Seeing history unfold through the deceptive motivational message spread by people like Napoleon Hill over the last three centuries. New Thought promises transformation through self-effort: self-discipline, self-confidence, self-actualization, self-expression. The list is endless: self-help, self-awareness, self-trust, self-esteem. The message is your dream can come true if you believe and work hard.

The hamster wheel is trying to leverage a religion of spiritual laws to serve your own ambition. God is a spiritual force who obeys us, a cosmic Santa Claus who gives us what we want!

But Jesus says plainly in John 15:5 – Apart from Me you can do nothing.

Presumption produces dead works. Sons remain “virgins” by refusing to conceive apart from Father’s Living Words. They do not procreate from ambition and presumption. They are aligned with Father’s purpose; that’s where their cause, contribution, and creativity originate. We are aligned with who we really are and what we are designed to do. It’s very liberating.

New Thought Lie – self-discipline is the only way to get what you want
(it’s the spiritual “law” that kills… law of attraction, affirmations, etc.)

2Cor 3:6 – The (New Thought) Letter kills, but the Spirit gives Life.

These sons are firstfruits. That means they are the beginning of a harvest — a prototype of Father working through Sons and Daughters to bring Heaven to Earth, a Reformation of People, Businesses, Cities, and Nations. They are purchased from among mankind because they are no longer sourced from mankind. They follow the Lamb.

Here’s the contrast between New Thought and Sonship and the Blog that goes with it:

Purchased for Reformation

Revelation 14 does not end with personal spirituality. These sons are firstfruits unto God. They are part of a much larger strategy — a reformation of people and nations.

This connects directly to Romans 8:19. Creation waits because sons carry an anointing to bless nations. They are ambassadors, messengers, warriors — not building personal kingdoms but building Father’s Kingdom on Earth.

Ephesians 2:10 says we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works prepared in advance for us to do. The works are already prepared. Sonship is not inventing purpose. It is keeping in step with Holy Spirit, Gal 5:25.

New Thought says: create your future.
Sonship says: receive your inheritance.

New Thought says: visualize and manifest.
Sonship says: seek first the Kingdom, and your Father will add these things.

In Luke 12, Jesus contrasts sons with the pagan world that runs after “all such things.” The Father knows what we need. He is pleased to give us the Kingdom.

This is the difference between striving for miracles and living a supernatural lifestyle.

A miracle solves an immediate problem.
Sonship abides in Father’s purpose so that Father’s provision, favor, and authority become a lifestyle.

The Culture of Sonship

Kingdom culture confronts self-generated spirituality. It awakens sons to ascension — to conversations in the Council where Living Words articulate our purpose and direction.

Clarity does not come from prophetic breadcrumbs, affirmations, or law-of-attraction formulas. It comes from every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Father, nine conversations in the Council.

Sons are not trying to become like God through effort.

Sons are revealing God through voluntary alignment.

Following the Lamb is their goal.

When sons follow, they flow in everything Father can add. They unlock their own creativity and courage for business initiatives. Now they are champions of a higher purpose that belongs to their Father.

The Rom 8:19 sons are being purchased from among mankind in our lifetimes — redeemed from self-effort, redeemed from self-sourcing, redeemed from spiritualized ambition.

They follow the Lamb wherever He goes. And as they follow, Father adds. Not because they chased results. But because they chose to be sons and co-labor with His purpose.
