From Crumbs to the Council

Understanding Spiritual Breadcrumbs (Intro Video)

#1).  Spiritual Breadcrumbs can relieve tension from the Holy Spirit trying to speak to us. It’s not a conversation, but it is a word, and when we get one, we’re prone to declare victory and stop the conversation.

#2).  Spiritual breadcrumbs are typically heard as promises of what God will do for us. We add a convenient interpretation to charismatic impressions and hope God solves all our problems. We skip the checks and balances from full Council conversation with Father, Jesus, and the 7 Spirits. Those conversations are centered around co-laboring – what we do, not just what God will do!

#3).  Breadcrumbs are premised on the Holy Spirit coming to us or dwelling in us. He does do that, but not to the exclusion of sons ascending to the Courts and Council of Heaven. Contenting yourself with a still small voice (impressions, hunches, intuition) misses the access Jesus redeemed to Father, the garden walks.

#4).  We do get breadcrumbs from the Holy Spirit. It’s a good thing. But it’s really a topical invitation to the Council for nine full conversations with Father, Jesus and 7 Spirits.

#5).  Father loves to reveal His purpose, strategy, and tactics to His sons and daughters—but you have to come to the Council to receive it. It’s banquet, not a breadcrumb!

#6).  The breadcrumb mindset creates dependence on external confirmation (fellowship with other breadcrumbers) rather than Council intimacy. Our clarity and confidence is partial because we’re missing 90% of Heaven’s strategy and making up the difference with human wisdom.

#7).  Breadcrumbs keep you in crisis management mode; Council access moves you toward a strategy related to Father’s reformation.

#1).  Spiritual Breadcrumbs can relieve tension
from the Holy Spirit trying to speak to us—
but they short-circuit the conversation.

When the Holy Spirit starts tugging at your heart about something—a business decision, a direction, a person—there’s a tension that builds. It’s uncomfortable. You know God wants to say something, but you’re not quite sure what.

Then you get a breadcrumb: a word, an impression, a verse that “jumps out” at you. And immediately, the tension releases. You got your word! You declare victory, post it on social media, maybe share it in your men’s group.

The problem? You’ve relieved the tension without actually having the conversation the Holy Spirit was inviting you into. You got just enough to feel spiritual, but not enough to truly know Father’s heart, strategy, and timing for the situation.

It’s like texting “K” to someone trying to have a deep conversation with you. Technically you responded, but you completely missed the point of what they were trying to communicate.

The Holy Spirit wasn’t trying to give you a word to post. He was inviting you to the Council for a full conversation with Father about your identity in this situation, Jesus about the redemptive story He’s writing, and all Seven Spirits for complete wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and proper fear of the Lord.

Real-world example: You’re wrestling with whether to hire someone. You get an impression: “David.” You take that as confirmation and hire him, declaring “God gave me a word!” Six months later, the hire is a disaster. What you missed: If you’d ascended to Council, Father might have said, “Yes, David—but not yet. First you need to develop your leadership capacity. I’m preparing David for you and preparing you for David. The timing is 18 months from now, not now.”

One breadcrumb. But you needed nine conversations: about your identity as a leader, the story being written, the purpose of this role, the strategy for timing, the tactics of development, your heritage in hiring, the courage to wait, clarity on readiness, and the culture this person will enter.

#2).  Spiritual breadcrumbs are typically promises of what God will do for us.
We add convenient interpretations and skip the
checks and balances of full Council conversation.

Here’s the seductive pattern: You get a charismatic impression that feels good. Your business will grow. That partnership will open. The funding will come. God’s going to do something amazing. And because it aligns with what you already want, you immediately interpret it through the lens of your desires rather than ascending to verify it in the Council with Father, Jesus, and the Seven Spirits.

You skip the necessary questions and conversations:

  • Father, what’s the IDENTITY you are developing in me? (Not just what You’ll do, but why—what are You forming in me through this?)
  • Jesus, how does this fit the redemptive STORY you’re writing in my life? (Is this the next chapter, or am I jumping ahead in the plot?)
  • Holy Spirit, what’s Father’s PURPOSE in this? How does this match with what’s in your heart?
  • Spirit of Wisdom, what’s the STRATEGY? (How does this actually unfold? What’s the path?)
  • Spirit of Understanding, what are the TACTICS? (What’s my part? What’s the open door to make it happen? What’s the sequence?)
  • Spirit of Counsel, what’s my HERITAGE in this? (Have I been prepared for this? Is my character ready to inherit the land you’ve promised me?)
  • Spirit of Might, do I have the COURAGE? (Not just optimism, but actual God-given living words that enable my co-laboring to make it happen in your power?)
  • Spirit of Knowledge, what’s the CLARITY? (Do I really understand what I’m hearing, or am I filling in blanks with assumptions?)
  • Spirit of Fear of the Lord, what CULTURE does this require? (What environment, what relationships, what rhythms need to be in place?)

Without these nine conversations, you end up with a promise you’ve interpreted through your flesh, not verified through the Council. You’ve added convenient meaning that makes you feel good but might have nothing to do with conversations in the Council.

The tragedy: When the promise doesn’t materialize the way you expected, you either blame God (“He didn’t come through”) or blame yourself (“I must have missed it”). Neither is true. You just never had the full conversation to know what Father was actually saying.

#3).  Breadcrumbs are premised on
the Holy Spirit coming to us or dwelling in us—which He does,
but not to the exclusion of sons ascending to Courts and Council.

This is where we’ve built an entire theology around passivity disguised as sensitivity. “Wait on the Lord.” “Listen for His still small voice.” “He’ll speak when He’s ready.” “Don’t get ahead of God—let Him come to you in His timing.”

All true to a point. The Holy Spirit does dwell in us (John 14:17). He does speak in whispers and impressions. But we’ve used these truths to avoid the full access Jesus died to give us (Jn 1:51).

The redemptive exchange Jesus secured:

Before the cross: Humanity was separated from God, barred from the garden, and unable to approach the Council of Heaven as a son or daughter.

After the cross: The veil torn, sons and daughters are invited to “approach God’s throne of grace with confidence” (Heb 4:16), to ascend to “Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem” (Heb 12:22), to participate in the Council where decisions are made.

Jesus didn’t die just to give you the Holy Spirit as a resident companion feeding you breadcrumbs. He died to make you a son or daughter with access to the Father’s Council—the same access Jesus has.

John 5:19-20 reveals the model: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does.” This isn’t Jesus waiting for random impressions. This is Jesus in active, ongoing conversation with Father, SEEING what Father is doing, participating in it. Garden walk level intimacy. Council level access.

The still small voice is good—but it’s an invitation, not the destination. When you get an impression, a hunch, intuition about something, that’s the Holy Spirit saying, “Come up here. Let’s talk about this in Council. I’ve got so much more to show you than this one breadcrumb.”

Contenting yourself with the whisper when Father is inviting you to the conversation is like being satisfied with a text message from your dad when he’s actually inviting you to come sit with him and talk through the business succession plan.

#4).  We do get breadcrumbs from Holy Spirit—it’s a good thing!
But it’s really a topical invitation to Council for nine full conversations.

Let me be clear: I’m not against the breadcrumbs. The Holy Spirit genuinely does drop impressions, hunches, verses, words into our hearts. That’s real. That’s biblical. That’s part of His ministry.

The issue isn’t THAT we get breadcrumbs. The issue is WHERE WE STOP.

Every breadcrumb is meant to be a doorway into a mansion. Every impression is an invitation to a fuller conversation. Every prophetic word is a topic heading for nine complete discussions with Father, Jesus, and the Seven Spirits.

Here’s how it’s supposed to work:

Breadcrumb arrives: You get an impression about expanding your business into a new market.

Proper response: “Thank You, Holy Spirit. This is clearly important. I’m coming up to Council to have the full conversation about this.”

Then you engage the Nine Conversations:

  1. Father—IDENTITY/PURPOSE:Who am I in this expansion? What’s the divine purpose behind this move? Is this about revenue or about reformation? What aspect of my sonship is being expressed here?
  2. Jesus—STORY:How does this fit the redemptive narrative You’re writing in my life and business? What’s being redeemed through this move? Where is this chapter heading?
  3. Spirit of the Lord—BREAD OF LIFE:What’s the core sustenance here? What will this feed in me, in my team, in the marketplace? What’s the daily bread of this decision?
  4. Spirit of Wisdom—STRATEGY:What’s the Kingdom strategy for this expansion? What’s the sequence? What’s the big-picture plan that makes this make sense?
  5. Spirit of Understanding—TACTICS:What are the specific steps? What’s my next move? What are the practical methods for executing this?
  6. Spirit of Counsel—HERITAGE:Have I been prepared for this? What in my history has equipped me for this moment? What generational blessing or breaking is at play here?
  7. Spirit of Might—COURAGE:Do I have what it takes? Where will I need supernatural fortitude? What battles am I about to face, and am I ready?
  8. Spirit of Knowledge—CLARITY:Do I truly understand what I’m hearing? What do I still need to know? Where are my blind spots in this decision?
  9. Spirit of Fear of the Lord—CULTURE:What environment does this require? What relationships need to be in place? What culture shift is necessary for this to succeed God’s way?

The difference: Instead of one breadcrumb about expansion, you now have a complete blueprint—your mansion. You know not just WHAT to do, but WHO you are in it, WHY you’re doing it, HOW it unfolds, WHEN to move, WHERE your strength comes from, and WHAT culture it requires.

#5).  Father loves to reveal His purpose, strategy, and tactics
to His sons and daughters—
but you have to come to Council to receive it.

“For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed” (John 5:20).

Notice: Father SHOWS. Present tense. Ongoing. This isn’t a one-time revelation. This is daily bread. This is ongoing conversation. And the prerequisite? Being a son or daughter who comes to the table. Who ascends to Council. Who asks not just for breadcrumbs but for the full revelation of what Father is doing.

Most believers treat God like a cosmic fortune cookie dispenser:

    • Crack open the Bible, get a verse
    • Say a quick prayer, get an impression
    • Attend a conference, get a prophetic word
    • Collect breadcrumbs, feel spiritual, move on

But God is inviting you to something completely different:

    • Ascend to Council
    • Engage Father, Jesus, and the Seven Spirits
    • Have nine complete conversations
    • Receive the blueprint of your mansion
    • Participate in what Father is doing
    • Co-labor instead of just executing

The breadcrumbs were never meant to be the meal. They’re the appetizer that’s supposed to make you hungry for the full banquet Father’s prepared.

#6).  The breadcrumb mindset creates dependence on external confirmation
rather than Council intimacy.

When you’re living on breadcrumbs, you become addicted to external validation:

  • Did I hear right?
  • Can someone confirm this word?
  • Does this prophecy line up with what that prophet said?
  • I need another sign to know for sure

You’re constantly seeking confirmation because you never got the full conversation in Council where Father, Jesus, and the Seven Spirits all speak into the matter and give you complete confidence.

Council access creates a different dynamic:

You’re not waiting for signs. You’re in conversation. You’re not hunting for confirmation. You’re in ongoing relationship. You’re not collecting breadcrumbs. You’re living in your mansion.

When you’ve had nine conversations with Father about a business decision, you don’t need three prophets to confirm it. You KNOW. You’ve sat in Council. You’ve heard from Father about purpose, Jesus about story, Wisdom about strategy, Understanding about tactics, Counsel about heritage, Might about courage, Knowledge about clarity, and Fear of the Lord about culture.

You move with confidence not because you got lucky with a good breadcrumb, but because you’ve done the work of ascending to Council and receiving complete revelation.

#7).  Breadcrumbs keep you in crisis management mode;
Council access moves you toward a strategy related to Father’s reformation.

Here’s the pattern with breadcrumbs:

    • Crisis hits
    • Panic sets in
    • Desperate prayer for a word
    • Get a breadcrumb
    • Apply it to the crisis
    • Move to the next crisis
    • Rinse and Repeat

You’re always reactive, always behind, always playing catch-up, always hoping the next breadcrumb will fix things.

Here’s the pattern with Council access:

    • Ascend regularly (not just in crisis)
    • Engage nine conversations
    • Receive blueprints and strategies
    • Understand what Father is doing
    • Participate proactively
    • Move from crisis to reformation

Reformation happens when you’re not just reacting to problems with breadcrumbs but actively building the Kingdom through Council-informed strategy.

Jesus wasn’t running around collecting breadcrumbs about what to do next. He was in constant conversation with Father, SEEING what Father was doing, and participating in it. That’s why He could say with confidence, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work” (John 4:34). He wasn’t guessing. He wasn’t hoping He heard right. He was in Council. He knew the plan. He was co-laboring.

The Invitation

  • The Holy Spirit hasn’t been giving you breadcrumbs because that’s all He has to offer. He’s been giving you breadcrumbs because that’s all you’ve been willing to pursue.
  • Every breadcrumb is an invitation: “Come up here. There’s a full conversation waiting. There’s a mansion prepared. There are nine rooms to explore. There’s complete revelation available.”
  • The question isn’t whether God will speak. The question is whether you’ll stop being satisfied with crumbs when He’s offering you the whole loaf, daily bread baked fresh in Council with Father.
  • Stop declaring victory and making decrees over breadcrumbs. Start ascending to Council for conversations. Stop collecting words. Start living in your mansion.
  • The table is set. The Council is real. Your seat is waiting.
  • Will you settle for breadcrumbs, or will you come home to the place Father prepared for you?
