Kingdom businesspeople are not immune from needing to manage all the moving parts in their staff, products, marketing, supply chains, and cash flow. While juggling all those balls, they are also sincerely interested in God. We have long lists of prayer needs, and we’re so used to getting the dial tone that we just try to muddle through with sanctified decision-making and hope for the best. We’re periodically at a loss to explain where setbacks come from: our frailty, the devil, or God’s discipline? So, when we come back to God and ask that question
 still the dial tone!!!

The Dial Tone – Allow me to skip to the end and share the simple punchline. Our concept of prayer is rattling of our wish list of prayer needs and waiting for God to answer. We offer up a mixture of pious initiatives, carnal ambitions, and practical needs (money is always in there somewhere). Then God is supposed to act like a cosmic bellhop and bring home the bacon. It doesn’t work! Sonship starts when we ascend to the Council and ask Father, “Lord, what’s on your heart?”

Serfs and Servants – We all conceive of ourselves as God’s humble servants. It’s really a lie we tell ourselves. Servants are really after a self-serving agenda (I obey enough to get what I want). In Kingdom business, my calling is to make money have some visible opportunities for a microphone ministry. God is supposed to be helping get me there! So why the dial tone? Why the cash flow issues?

Sonship – You’re not alone with that dial tone thing! God is shifting saved servants to ascending sons. He’s shifting Martha’s distracted by many things to Mary’s who choose the best thing. Sonship starts when we ascend to the Council and ask Father, “Lord, what’s on your heart?”

The Religious Spirit – It’s present in Kingdom business. We’re swimming in a confusing mix of wheat and tares at such a level that we can’t just copy other people’s success and make it work for us. It’s the distraction toward money and ministry. It was the pharisees who were lovers of money. Sons and daughters are the ones who put Kingdom purpose first.

Purpose is the Currency – Sons grasp that Father’s purpose is the currency of the Kingdom. In fact, when we learn to hear His purpose and put it first, Father starts “adding all these things” that were previously a distraction (big mental oxymoron, huh?). When we’re in the Council and start with what’s on Father’s heart, conversations start to replace the dial tone. Greater works start to replace dead works. Our staff, clients, and business machinery start to flow with Father’s purpose. We can feel the wind of God’s Spirit at our back. It’s a thousand miles from the dial tone.

See the difference?

Servants – Lord, bless me. Show me how to do what is in my heart. (Ps 37:4)
(a mixed bag of presumption and Kingdom)

Sons – Father, show me what is in your heart.
For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. (Jn 5:20)

What are you doing that I can do with you?
he can do only what he sees his Father doing (Jn 5:19)
for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. (Jn 5:30)

Tonya, a friend, put it this way after a Courts of Heaven session this week.

It was when you were praying about the spirit of religion and being a servant versus a daughter. I really felt something released in me during that! Like my whole life, I really have been seeing myself as a servant trying to please the master
and just begging for his help. And then I go about “my work“ and just keep asking him to bless it. Today was a complete flip of the switch for me once that servant perspective was broken off. Suddenly I saw everything so differently. It’s like we have our idols and then we ask God to help us serve them lol. How crazy. And then I was able to gain this 30,000-foot view
seeing life from a completely different perspective. I still don’t fully understand what it looks like to do God‘s work and bring his kingdom to earth, but all I can tell you is that I’m approaching him and my life completely differently now. And I have no idea what that means; it’s a beautiful scary place where nothing is familiar. But as much as I don’t like it, I actually am excited and even kinda love it. (Tonya)
