I have a cousin who lost her 17-year-old daughter in a plane wreck 40 years ago. When that happens, we carry a certain tenderness in our hearts for the rest of our lives. Colleen had a great gift of mercy and many we’re recipients of her caring heart.
God used the tragedy to of a wreck to build something into her life that would not have been there without the fiery trial. When wrecks happen, we all question the Lord: How could you allow this to happen? Did I cause this? Or was it the devil? All of those could be possibilities. The way we sort through the emotion of what caused the wreck is important. Blaming God or ourselves usually leads to a root of bitterness.
- Bitter roots grow weeds in our lives until the wreck is healed.
- Everyone has a wreck(s) in their history that shape us for better or for worse.
1 Pet 4:12 – Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal
that has come on you to test you,
as though something strange were happening to you.
16) Â However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed,
but praise God that you bear that name.
So, what happened? – Father God is not the author of wrecks. We live in a world at war in the spirit, where casualties are common. Blaming God, yourself, or the devil isn’t particularly productive. God doesn’t insulate us from fiery trials, He doesn’t guarantee we will get through the warfare unscathed. But what He does do is resurrect His sons and daughters. He redeems our lives from destruction and makes us even stronger. He turns wrecks into wonders.
Rom 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â ïƒ Â for the good of those who love him,
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â ïƒ Â who have been called according to his purpose.
It’s not magic – Wrecks don’t fix themselves. In fact, wrecks are typically accompanied by accusations and shame from the accuser of the brethren that are best dealt with in the Courts of Heaven.
1). Â We can ask Jesus to carry our griefs and bear our sorrows to heal from a wreck.
2). Â If we discern the false prophetic power behind accusations, we can take them to the cross as well.
3).  We can releasing Father’s decrees in the Spirit to counter the wreck.
 – To intercept the attack
– Or resurrect from the aftermath.
I always pray for cancer. Sickness and disease are never from God. Jesus redeems us from wrecks before they happen or resurrects us after. Our God never leaves us or forsakes us. We are never separated from His Love. Even in death we are more than conquerors.
Rom 8:36 – For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37)  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.              Â
38)Â Â For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39)Â Â neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Abandoned by God – The hardest thing about wrecks is that we are tempted to immerse ourselves in the emotion of the tragedy, which is typically self-pity. We do feel like sheep being led to the slaughter. It does feel like Father abandoned us during the grief recovery! We don’t always see the healing or solution immediately.
Love Finds a Way – The experience of going through a death and experiencing a resurrection is the path of life for all of Father’s sons and daughters. It’s how we grow. Life has seasons and reasons that are not predictable, not necessarily preventable.
Once we experience our Father’s love in a resurrection, it becomes natural to love others through their trials. Father always has the Living Words of life. We are the stewards of ministering those prophetic, Living Words to set captives free from the chains of their own bitterness. The freedom from the presence of God is pure and unmistakable joy.
1 Jn 4:19 – We love, because He first loved us
2 Cor 3:17 – Now the Lord is the Spirit,
and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
