One of the Kingdom transitions to sonship in the business realm is purpose. Typically, leaders and CEOs are self-sufficient, self-controlled, self-disciplined, self-assured, and self-starting. By contrast, the leadership dynamic of a Kingdom CEO is co-laboring: CEOs are moving from their self-whatevers to release what Father can do and do it with Him. In the larger scheme of things, Father’s purpose is:
To:Â Progress Sons, CEOs, and leaders through Prophetic, Priestly, and Kingly stages of maturity,
So that:Â They can bring Heaven to earth; bring Reformation to People, Biz, Communities, and Nations.
All creation has been waiting for these sons because Father is committed to implementing His Kingdom on Earth through His kids. Most businesses and leaders are in the fog of war shifting toward Father’s purpose themselves or with their sons. Here’s the distinction:
- Christian business (Process) – I’m taking a business opportunity or my dream, putting in the effort to make it go, and asking God to bless the work of my hands and the cash-flow in my company. We’re building this business on Godly character, Spiritual principles, and Biblical values that we have originated, and we have references for all of them! God’s purpose is our static list of rules to live by. We help others replicate the process, maintain the policies, procedures, quality, and metrics.
- Kingdom business (Purpose) – God is authoring a Reformation that touches people, businesses, and nations. I’ve got a purpose and assignments that dovetail into Father’s higher purpose and it’s moving. It’s prophetically profound and it stirs hearts. People resonate with it. Staff and customers “buy” into it. As sons, we’re seeing and opening doors in the Spirit to make our purpose happen with new spiritual authority. We feel Father’s pleasure. We’re experiencing a relational progression through sonship to get there and keep in step. We help others replicate the sonship, the culture, and results – treasures in Heaven. Process flows from purpose; moving and dynamic purpose.
Fig Leaves – Believers in business without Kingdom purpose are often superficial and lack heart connection. They fear transparency, vulnerability, and are prone to inflexibility (intellectual rigor for their list). Fig leaves are the identity props we substitute for Father’s purpose. Here are few fig leaf examples you have already seen:
- I have microphone invitations, spirituality, visibility, knowledge, maturity, pretense.
- I have public stature, because I have money, visibility, achievement, staff, a business, credentials.
- I have (all of the above) because I help other’s make money. I’m philanthropic.
- I have self-promotion, to cover for the absence of Father’s promotion.
Fig leaves are people trying to do God’s part… in the absence of purpose (His Purpose). Fig leaves replace Father’s anointing with self-effort, self-promotion, self-satisfaction, and self-direction. We become clouds without rain, a business machine with no heart.
Getting off the hamster wheel – starts with putting Father’s purpose first, before my own business agenda. My agendais usually centered around money, the universal collateral for “everything I want.”
1Tim 6:1 – For the Love of money (G5365)
Some eager for money (all our goals) …have pierced themselves with many griefs.
Eager (G3713, Oregonmai) – To aspire to, strive for, desire, to stretch oneself.
Lord, well-intentioned believers strive, stretch themselves, and get pierced (Like me!).
- Without Father’s presence and purpose, we “try;” compete, market, and squirm for our own identity.
We measure outward success with our lists and process (money, visibility, impact, etc.) - With Fathers presence and purpose, life and business flow. Purpose is clear through ups and downs. We are co-laborers and Father can do His part. We are getting our ego out of the way. Father’s purpose is much bigger than me. Life is not entirely about me! It’s not irresponsible, passive, or reactive. It’s just how Kingdom business works. Ironically, it’s self-defeating to do everything in our own power!
How Kingdom Really “Works” – There are a few simple Eureka’s that I’ve found helpful.
- Sons are transfigured in the Council, not by trying harder. Jesus’ secret is follow me!
transformed by human accountability, self-improvement, that just reinforce self-effort, conformity to lists and processes. - Father supplies, adds, multiplies (That’s His part). Mk 4:28 – all by itself the soil produces.
- Sons are entrepreneurial, creative, and industrious. Don’t be surprised if they birth a few Ishmaels on the way to co-laboring. God can handle it. Help them hear, and see, and resurrect into doing what Father is doing (Jn 5:19).
- When purpose is clear, everything else is secondary.
- The degree of difficulty.
- The timing, schedule, season.
- The money, resources, cash-flow, and profit (are not “purpose,” they follow purpose).
Follow me – Here’s the counsel I got: Follow me! Father reveals long-term vision, higher purpose, Reformation…
but you get there by following me. The difference is co-laboring; doing it with Father instead of for Him!
Putting the Kingdom first (Mt 6:33) is putting Father’s purpose first.
- Plan, but see it in the Council first.
- Work, but do what Father is doing first.
- Market, but see hearts, listen to hearts, and give value first.
- Minister, but love first, see Father’s heart for people first.
Be the son who opens the windows of heaven and pours out blessing and life. Tithe your heart with family time in the council because it’s fun, alive, thrilling and because it’s what your Father really wants – you!
Teach your sons to honor Father:
- By honoring their design, being heart-connected, content in their own skin.
- By honoring the purpose they carry, and seeing what it is.
- By engaging in the joy set before them.
- By getting off the hamster wheel and experiencing work/co-laboring as worship.
We help Kingdom Businesses fulfill their unique purpose while producing value and cash flow.

Cutting Room Floor
The Kingdom business KPI is relationally Rich Toward God:
- Conversations in the Council that clarify purpose.
- Fluent in the Courts of Heaven (Accusations and Decrees).
- I’m intentional about storing treasures in heaven (Sonship, Releasing Kings).
- Kingdom is not a vow of poverty; it’s a son vowing to prioritize Father’s purpose.
- Earthly treasures and measures come right after putting Father’s purpose first.
- His purpose is already written in my heart. It’s my purpose too!
My hard work has produced these full barns (safety, identity, self-sufficiency)
Mt 6:26 – Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?
Lu 12:16 – The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest.
18) … I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.
19)Â And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years.
Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.
21) This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves
but is not rich toward God.”
Mt 6:20 – Store up for yourselves Treasures in Heaven, intentionally.
- Sons are the treasures! …in earthen vessels.
- Be in heaven, in your seat, in the Council.
