Get the Key to Open Your Door
September 09, 2007
John – I am sure you hear this a lot, but I can’t tell how Releasing King’s has revolutionized my husband. He recently bought the second book Desire to Destiny and we spent from 1:00 -7:00 at Barnes and Nobles Sunday answering the questions. He had read some to me two nights before and I told him I could feel my brain shifting. I was shocked that I belong to camp #2…waiting for revival to come. It seems the more I “wait” the more reviving I will need. I want to keep this short and say Thank you for bringing life back to us and we look to the future with excitement. Blessings, Jean
Red Deer, Alberta – John will be with David Harris and Dale Plante November 16-17 at the Sunnyside Christian Retreat Center located just North of Silvan Lake in the Calgary, Alberta area. Phone 403-748-2197 for registration.
The Key of David
Opening Doors – The Lord woke me up with a phrase a few nights back, “I will open doors that no man can shut.” After staggering out of bed to the computer I found the verses.
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. Rev 3:7-8
I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. Isa 22:22
Where’s the Key? – Kings often run into closed doors. It’s part of their calling to open them. Many interpret a closed door as a providential sign indicating the will of God and stop right there. It’s discouraging to be stuck at a closed door – even if you believe it is closed providentially. When we start down a path and run into a roadblock, we’re forced to reassess the whole strategy… including our standing with God.
The verses above point out that God holds the key to opening and closing doors. We would all agree on that. However, Kings go a step farther and realize that God has given us those same keys. Take a look.
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” Matt 16:19 NASU
It’s our job to bring the kingdom of heaven down here on earth. Many doors to do that are closed. We just have to unlock them and release Heaven’s provision… something we’re just learning how to do.
The Key to the Key of David – God calls this “door opening” anointing the key of David for a reason. The secret is operating out of your heart’s desires. After Saul’s failures with obedience, God started looking for a different kind of man… a man after His own heart. He found that quality in David.
But now your kingdom will not endure; the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people… 1 Sam 13:14 NIV
After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’ Acts 13:21-22 NIV
Here’s the miracle. David was one of the first to discover it. God is not looking for sacrifices and burnt offerings. He’s looking for someone whose heart is thrilled by the same things that thrill His own heart. Obedience that operates outside of your own heart’s desires is just religion – the kind the Pharisees had.
The Key of David is in your possession when you realize God made you, loves you, and wired you with certain desires that naturally pull you into his will. When your heart and God’s heart overlap, amazing things can happen… doors open, dreams come true, prosperity accompanies, and ministry happens.
If you’ve lived your Christian life trying to discipline yourself to do the will of God at the expense of your heart’s desires, you’ll eventually burn out (maybe already have in many ways). God didn’t design you to be “religious” in that sense. You’ll actually drive others away from your faith. However, when you find the adventure of your heart’s desire you’ll naturally be enthusiastic about life, God, the Kingdom, and the Father’s work… and you’ll start having fun. Your heart will come alive the way God intended from the beginning.
Now – go loose the kingdom on earth and pray open heaven’s gates. It’s fun! Instead of trying to be “clean slate” spiritual; set some goals around the desires of your heart that excite you and see if you can’t find the presence of God somewhere on that list.
Life is an adventure. People are a blessing. God is amazing. We’re winning.
