A Fresh Wind is Blowing

Last Week – we shared some of the things that came out from our conference in Abbotsford. It’s an interesting phenomena; we go to share about releasing Kings and hear even more as we do. I’m still stirred in my heart that God is opening a new door and inviting Kings to step into another level of multiplying ministry.

Character plus – Reagan Couch has been hounding me to read The Richest Man Who Ever Lived by Steven Scott. It’s about living your business life through the wisdom in proverbs. He covers both the character needed to reach your destiny and has some great chapters on the practical side: articulating your vision, finding your team, etc. Great book! Steven Scott writes from a position of having made his business successful. He’s also helped others become successful. Gary Smalley’s emphasis on the family was made possible through Steven’s marketing/ministry.

What’s the new thing? – I believe God is showing Kings how to multiply finances so that their ministries can multiply. One school of thought in marketplace ministry focuses on developing character, to the exclusion of financial increase. One of their themes is that there is no “get rich quick” strategy in the will of God. Haste fueled by greed is a temptation advertised in many false opportunities. These are verses that make the point.

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. Prov 21:5 NIV

A man with an evil eye hastens after wealth And does not know that want will come upon him. Prov 28:22 NASU

I want to suggest we that need both character development and an anointing to multiply finances – governed by the right motives. I want to further suggest that God is accelerating the schedule. Many who have labored faithfully with no breakthrough are now finding financial release as a tool to releasing their ministry. It’s happening quickly compared to our prior experiences.

Before we go further, let me illustrate what this anointing to multiply is not. Here are three obvious ones. (This is so much fun!)

1. It’s not our own traditions – We’ve all come from a tradition in which we want to avoiding soiling our hands with “filthy lucre” in the marketplace. We’ve been too spiritual to multiply finances. We believed God would supply all our needs and we prayed that needs would be met as if by magic. That theology translated to an “offering mentality” where we asked others to meet our financial obligation. Well, it works for a few people at the top that are highly visible in the public eye. However, your ministry won’t be funded with offerings or fund raisers. There are not that many donors to go around. HELLO?!

2. It’s not the Prosperity Gospel – The prosperity message implied that we could use faith to have whatever we wanted. We simply needed to name the item (cars, house, boats, etc.), exercise our faith, and watch it materialize. Although it works, this version of faith misses the fact that God’s blessing serves two purposes. Answers to the prayer of faith demonstrates His love for us, but it also is the tool used to build the Kingdom. The second aspect was under-emphasized in the prosperity Gospel. Kenneth Hagin Sr. issued a correction to his followers near the end of his life that is very interesting to read. See the following article in Charisma at or get a copy of The Midas Touch by Kenneth Hagin Sr. from www.rhema.org.

3. It’s not the New Age Movement – This message is simply faith without the God of the Bible. Elements of prayer and belief are combined with the power of focus, positive thinking, and verbal affirmations. There is no need for a relationship with Christ and no higher purpose than self. It comes in a mix of personal testimonials, spiritualism, environmentalism, and occasional worthy causes to mask the introverted hedonism.

Note: At some level, we in the church have sponsored this secular movement. We have emphasized the need to crucify self in repentance but we haven’t given the same attention to the power of Jesus’ resurrection. We haven’t taught how to have life and have it more abundantly. We’re just beginning to operate in miraculous spiritual gifts with maturity. We’ve been silent on God’s own desire to grant the desires of our heart. The new age movement is simply a human attempt at the Gospel without the redemptive work of Jesus.

Learning to Multiply – Multiplication and acceleration start where our real heart’s desires and God’s will overlap. It’s an amazing dynamic! We were never intended to just be obedient servants that sacrificially perform the will of God in opposition to our own will. We’re called to be God’s friends and to share his vision to bless the nations. He’s invited us to help write the script for our involvement in the Kingdom. When we start doing the things we enjoy with the gifts already in our DNA and start seeing the fruit in ministry towards people and our finances, it get’s really fun! We become one of David’s mighty men doing great exploits for God. Your joy becomes contagious.

who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Ps 103:5 NIV

What’s the most fun? When the curtain swings back on all of life’s possibilities, there are a few things that are really fun. Co-laboring the the Father, being in His presence, blessing the nations, helping a brother…these are the best things. In the end, putting the Kingdom first is the sweet spot of life where everything else is added. Prosperity is no more and no less a tool to enable us to minister in the marketplace. God wants to expand your territory, multiply your finances and make your name great so you can build the Kingdom. He’s looking for Kings that will say, “yes Lord.”

Wealth is a Tool is one of our most popular past newsletters – You might enjoy it too.

Life is an adventure. People are a blessing. God is amazing. We’re winning.

Opportunity! – I helped Jayston Tunnelle (a pastor from Liberia) write a business plan for a grocery store in Monrovia. We need someone with experience in retail / groceries to review it and we need an investor to make it a reality. The details of the business start-up and Jayston’s contact info are on the link.

You’re invited into the vision to release Kings; communicate the message, make the money, and do the mission.

1.The Message – Our first goal is to get the Releasing Kings message into the hands of the messengers that will carry it… do it, preach it, teach it, example it.
2.The Money – The second goal is to help Kings break out of poverty by networking them with practical opportunities to prosper. We want to introduce them to the right people, the right opportunity, and the right financial approach.
3.The Mission – Network Kings with opportunities to mix business and missions. Accomplish the great commission through the marketplace.
