Coaching for Christians
An apostolic secret – The more wealthy people I meet, the more I’m amazed at how they network. People trying to come up out of poverty assume they have to do it on their own and don’t realize the importance of getting help. People that have wealth demonstrate two common characteristics: 1) they nearly always have a story of how others helped them along the way, and 2) they are surprisingly willing to offer that same kind of help. Many of those exclusive clubs we think of as frivolous, shallow, elitist, and discriminatory are really investments in networking. Here’s the progression.
Starting with the submissive servant – Historically the church in general, and probably your own local church, has placed a high value on the character quality of submission and the willingness to serve. We’re laboring to help make others successful – that’s good! Leadership is all about learning to make others successful.
And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? Luke 16:12 KJV
For Kings the day comes when we’re supposed to build our own vision on that character quality. The Lord moves in our hearts to ask, “When can I do something for my own household; that I can call my own.” That’s where “entrepreneurial” begins.
The little you had before I came has increased greatly, and the LORD has blessed you wherever I have been. But now, when may I do something for my own household?” Gen 30:30 NIV
That which is our own – The next step is to switch from obeying a master or employer to laboring with a father or mentor. This relationship is designed to help us succeed in “that which is our own.” It obviously requires a mentor with a servant’s heart to give us that kind of help or advice. That level of “Fathering” is also an expression of the ministry of the Holy Spirit that often comes through a personal touch. These folks enjoy making others successful. They have an apostolic expression of Fathering in the marketplace.
“If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. John 14:15-17 NIV
But the Counselor , the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:25-26 NIV
Peers that network – As we grow older in the Lord we gradually run out of father-types that watch over us closely and we gravitate toward networking with peers. At the same time we usually run into opportunities to become fathers ourselves. Kings that have learned how to prosper and build the Kingdom always have eye toward working with others. The latest term for that relationship is “affiliate” rather than employee. If we contractually relate to people as affiliates rather than employees we are helping them develop in their own vision while they assist us in ours. We preserve their self-motivation and their own identity as entrepreneurial Kings.
Dan Miller – Lots of believers are feeling the pull of the Holy Spirit toward becoming Kings in marketplace ministry. One of the questions that often comes up is, “where can I go to get help… who can be my coach?” I think there are a zillion answers to that question, but I want to point you toward one good example.
I introduced myself to Dan Miller recently because I’ve been searching for a credible coaching reference (check out the interview). I like to see a solid Christian foundation in the folks we recommend and Dan has that. He currently has 180 affiliate coaches working with him and has a vision for 1000… then 5000. His books and coaching materials are designed to lead people toward their own unique expression in work or business. His anointing, products, and services are in demand in both secular and Christian circles. Here are some of his services.

Opportunity! – I helped Jayston Tunnelle (a pastor from Liberia) write a business plan for a grocery store in Monrovia. We need someone with experience in retail / groceries to review it and we need an investor to make it a reality. The details of the business start-up and Jayston’s contact info are on the link.
You’re invited into the vision to release Kings; communicate the message, make the money, and do the mission.
1.The Message – Our first goal is to get the Releasing Kings message into the hands of the messengers that will carry it… do it, preach it, teach it, example it.
2.The Money – The second goal is to help Kings break out of poverty by networking them with practical opportunities to prosper. We want to introduce them to the right people, the right opportunity, and the right financial approach.
3.The Mission – Network Kings with opportunities to mix business and missions. Accomplish the great commission through the marketplace.
