2013-02-03 Stewards and Superstars

In the course of pursuing dreams and experiencing the desires of our hearts, we all weigh the concepts of being a faithful steward of what God has for us and experiencing the fruit of God’s intervention in our lives. Stewards emphasize discipline, wisdom and character; superstars see the anointing, gifts of the spirit and charisma. As Kings, we need both. Our goal is to do all of our part and set the stage for God to all of His part… with the realization that much of what God does happens through us.

Physical health – A good steward who takes care of himself has a healthy diet, regular exercise, and uses the medical profession to care for his teeth and health on a scheduled basis. A superstar might focus on divine healing or divine health.

Spiritual health – A good steward is daily involved in devotions, prayer, Bible reading, fellowship, meditation, and journaling. A superstar will gravitate to the prophetic, dreams, visions, visitations and conferences.

Vocational/financial health – A good steward is consistently and faithfully working, giving, saving, investing, serving and sowing. Superstars are watching for viral ideas, financial multiplication, miraculous intervention, open doors, and divine appointments.

Your personal dream – pursuing the desires of your heart is the engine that drives both stewardship and superstars. Stewards who try to live by the law to maintain their consistent faithfulness all eventually fail. We’re not wired to achieve anything great with the letter of the law. But, when we touch the desires God wrote in our hearts, stewards have reason to be disciplined and God has reason to intervene and make your name great. Competence comes from compassion.

He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant- — not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Cor 3:6 NIV

“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Gen 12:2-3 NIV

Servants, who can be good stewards, are so conscientious about not making a name for themselves and building a tower of Babel that they will often refuse God’s promotion and glory. Superstars who have been elevated by God or man can be very vulnerable if their foundation in stewardship is weak. Kings are being called into their mountains to possess integrity and anointing. It’s not one or the other; it’s not one against the other; it’s both! Your stewardship and your promotion from God grow together; they are two trees in the same garden.

Viral Christianity – We live in an age of exciting, accelerating, and challenging change. The eyes of the Lord are on those who are good stewards, yet open to multiplication of finances, ideas, revivals and reformations. As we faithfully sow into the vision of our hearts for the Kingdom, our eyes must also be on Jesus because He is anxious to exceed our expectations and put the stamp of His glory on our efforts. God is inviting us to steward our dreams; to be faithful in the little so He can put us in charge over much. Having a vision for the connection between your own dream and God’s promotion and multiplication keeps us in faith and faithfulness.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. 2 Chron 16:9 NKJV

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry Ps 34:15 NIV

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer 1 Peter 3:12 NIV

You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Cor 9:11 NIV

A viral idea (example) – David is a 6th grade teacher I met about two years ago. He helped organize and attended a Releasing Kings conference a year ago and went through the coaching process. As we discussed the desires of his heart and healed his own heart boundaries, we both realized his mountain was in education. He loves teaching 6th graders and in 2009 was recognized as Teacher of the Year in his state. He’s in his early 40’s, happily married, has four kids, and his dream was teaching and his family. We talked about expanding his vision to release hearts / Kings in his 6th grade class. He has since used his classroom to help his students identify the desires God wrote on their hearts. Other teachers, support staff and parents in his school have seen the fruit and have shown enthusiasm in the process to the point that now David meets with them weekly to talk about their own heart’s desires as well as releasing the dreams in their students. Teachers really yearn to have their own hearts released as well.

The approach has developed into a idea of traveling portfolio, the “Dream Project.” The Idea is that teachers, parents and students work through elements of the coaching module and get each student’s life direction in writing. Everyone in the educational community can get involved. Each new element of that child’s future calling, vocation and dream is written or placed in the portfolio including student work which exemplifies what’s resonating in their heart for that particular year. The portfolio follows them through each grade of school. The educational community then acts as a coach/mentor to the student, helping them to connect the dots portrayed in the portfolio. The portfolio is really an education mountain term for Heart Plan. Imagine identifying your life purpose at the age of 10 and having the opportunity for parents and teachers to help you sharpen it all the way through college. In the education mountain they call it “intrinsic motivation.” We all have our passions ignited when we see our own calling in the example of another. We are all motivated when we touch our Kingdom purpose.

My honest sense is that if this concept is properly and faithfully stewarded to maturity, then God himself will promote both the idea and David far beyond anything he ever dreamed possible. It’s not a stretch. David is a King. God wants to make his name great… for the sake of an entire generation. The Father is waiting for two things: 1) a practical process that can be implemented around the world and 2) to hear “yes Lord” from a 6th grade teacher, “you have my permission to promote the portfolio and me.”

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us…  Eph 3:20 NASU
