November 03, 2010 Hi
I had the privilege of tagging along with Harold Eberle, Mike Rollinger and Rich Blair. Mike and Rich are businessmen from Yakima. We shared in a Releasing Kings conference with about 80 business and government employees from Nyahururu. After the conference we helped with a Bible College graduation, shared in a church, and attended a graduation at the Heroes Orphanage. Sensory overload… Pictures are here.
Cell Phones – We noticed most Kenyans have cell phones, people are friendly, and Kenya is a land of opportunity. I came home with a desire to package our message in a 10-week college curriculum and record it as a DVD series that can be downloaded from the internet. The first step was to convert our conference presentation to the 10-session format. You can see the latest version on our conference page.
All that just lays a foundation for the real work of the ministry of Kings: starting businesses, creating wealth and converting money to ministry to bless people.
Land of Opportunity – As Kings, we have an opportunity to bless the nations (like Kenya) and help move the economy to a place of creating wealth – self sustaining disciples. This week a newsletter from Steve Hill outlined the concept from the life of Hans Nielson.
On April 5 in 1796, as a young man of 25, Hans had an encounter with God and immediately began to share with the people in his local community. They responded to his example and message and began to meet house to house as living communities of Jesus followers. For eight years he walked the length of Norway and multiplied disciples.
As he travelled, Hans would connect men with ideas with those with some money to invest. His ability to connect people, build networks and encourage trust led to the establishing of over 1000 businesses. He never kept ownership in any of them, but acted as a catalyst to start them providing jobs and income, so that people could help themselves and have money to give to others. He taught his disciples to be honest, hard working, and to invest in the future. In fact, the reason he was finally released from prison was that the authorities realized that the nation needed his leadership and wisdom in the economic difficulties they were experiencing.
Right now organizations like worldvision.org are putting billions into starting micro-businesses that empower people to help themselves and others by breaking the cycle of poverty. Who funds them? I met Kim Lorenz on the plane today. He works for World Vision and connects Rotary Club members (US business people “Kings”) with opportunities to help.
The Gospel – Everywhere I look, believers are beginning to understand that the Gospel isn’t just salvation and Heaven. It’s also abundant life, entrepreneurial creativity, and a level of power, influence and generosity that blesses national governments, economies and societies. What an exciting time to live.
PS: November 2-19 are conferences in Poland and Ukraine with David Tinney and Poul Daalguard. David put our material on a Russian web site – http://www.releasingkingsua.com/. So now Releasing Kings and Desire to Destiny and the conference notes are all available in their native language

How to Start a Small Group – Kings are increasingly getting involved in Bible study or mentoring groups to facilitate their “Release.” Here are some helpful suggestions www.Releasing-Kings.com/Starting-a-Group.html. We’ve also updated our Vision Brochure with graphics show how to become a King and how your can help Release Kings.
French Translation – Releasing Kings is now available in French thanks to the efforts of Cees Bakker and Support Ministries in the Netherlands. In France, copies can be obtained from Editions Menor or Librairie Chretienne CLC. The Title in French is “Libération des Rois pour le ministère dans le monde du travail”. Cees is also the guy who made the Dutch translation possible – available through his website. He can be contacted for Releasing Kings conferences in France and throughout Europe.
Facebook – I’m starting to post more information on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/john.garfield1
PS: I want to recommend some follow-up reading.
Who is God by Harold Eberle provides the best explanation of the open view of God. It’s must reading that connects our perception of God with everyday life.
Releasing Kings for Ministry in the Marketplace takes that foundation into marketplace ministry and the entrepreneurial nature of Kings. Fruit in the marketplace naturally springs out of sound doctrine.
Desire to Destiny – Takes the foundation and marketplace ministry and puts them in the context of seven practical keys or stages of growth you can apply in your own life.
You’re invited into the vision to release Kings; communicate the message, make the money, and do the mission.
1.The Message – Our first goal is to get the Releasing Kings message into the hands of the messengers that will carry it… do it, preach it, teach it, example it.
2.The Money – The second goal is to help Kings break out of poverty by networking them with practical opportunities to prosper. We want to introduce them to the right people, the right opportunity, and the right financial approach.
3.The Mission – Network Kings with opportunities to mix business and missions. Accomplish the great commission through the marketplace and occupy the Seven mountains of: business, media, arts & entertainment, education, family and government in addition to the church.
